Abstract

The scientific authority of the Holy Quran refers to its meaningful and systematic influence on structured human knowledge, aiming for the Quran’s effective presence alongside other epistemic sources in various fields of science. Today, governance is one of the significant and prevalent discussions among managers, academic centers, and scholarly circles. The relationship between the Quran and governance, referred to as "Quranic governance," is a subject worth exploring in this context. Accordingly, this research, titled “the Quranic Principles and Criteria Governing Sciences with an Approach to the Scientific Authority of the Holy Quran”, seeks to explain the dimensions of the Quran’s governance over sciences through the lens of its scientific authority. The findings indicate that the Quran governs sciences in three domains: Islamic sciences, humanities, and natural sciences. Additionally, the scope of the Quran’s governance over sciences can be examined at two levels: meta-scientific and intra-scientific. The key criteria of Quranic governance over sciences include authenticity, centrality and standard-setting, prioritization, and the independent authority of the Quran as a source. As a result of this governance, Quranic principles become dominant over human knowledge and sciences. Through a descriptive-analytical method, this study explores various aspects of the Quran’s governance over sciences, emphasizing its scientific authority by analyzing Quranic verses.
